Re: October Challenge
That is Wicked!!! I want to print one out and hang it on the wall, it's a work of art in itself!
Re: October Challenge
Heh, since I've been working on this theme for a few weeks I'll post my favourite so far

I sooooooooo love that necklace Bonnie, even though I'm scared of spiders. We seem to have been invaded recently by some monsterous ones......

Re: October Challenge
Yup, a truly lovely mood board Cornish, liking the theme. Is that an Elvgren picture in the top right corner? I bought a book of his pictures for my BF's birthday but he just sniggered embarrasedly and put the book away. He told me later he thought the pictures were childish and smutty. :!: . I asked for the book back and it now sits on my coffee table for all the world to see. Smutty! I ask you. The man's strange.
Re: October Challenge
Not just him Gillian, I think they're all strange! Who's Elvgren, is that the spider picture, I love that.

Re: October Challenge
Just done a quick search on Elvgren and it reminds me of the Varga girls pin ups, I nearly used one. The top right is Halloween Girl by KagamiNoir, i just love it.

This is Happy Haloween by Gil Elvgren and is the image I was thinking of. Your Kagame Noir image is similar and in the same vein. They're both very pretty and girly. Sexy in a non-smutty way.

Re: October Challenge
Just looked up Varga. His pictures are even more lovely. That's a new one for me to look out for, ta
Re: October Challenge
One thing I haven't said about this Challenge. There will be a Prize for the best entry, I don't even know what the prize is yet but it will be fab.
As I will be blogging and Tweeting about this, I'm going to insert a rule for the challenge, you must have at least 5 posts on this forum to enter.

Re: October Challenge
Thats a good idea Cornish. Sometimes people need a bit of help to break the ice and start chatting.
Gillian, why can't you enter competitively? Are you barred because you are a 'special moderator extraordinaire'?

Re: October Challenge
In a nutshell, Pru,yeah. It's from choice though and not enforced. I didn't feel it was worth the risk of someone thinking it was nepotistic should 1 of the mods or admins win. (It also saves me the stress of "Oscar Face" )
Re: October Challenge
I'm with Gillian, I love making something but I don't want to be in the running for a prize. And also the stress of the Oscar Face.
Re: October Challenge
Ok, what's Oscar Face? I get the idea, but I just tried to Google it, up popped this poor chap called Oscar and something to do with face transplants.
As for not entering, seems a shame, isn't there some way of introducing an anonymous voting system ? where we could all vote for our personal favourite, unable to vote for ourselves and only one vote per email address?
Just a thought.
In all systems there is room for corruption, NOT, that I'm suggesting in any way shape or form that this is what would take place here? Blimey, one really has to cover all basis.
And maybe this Oscar Face thingie is too stressing or is distressing?

Re: October Challenge
Ah Debs, "Oscar Face" is a a phrase I coined following a competition on another forum and makes reference to the face celebrities pull at awards night (Oscars, BAFTA's etc) when they're hoping they're going to win but don't want anyone to know that they're bothered and then have to pretend they're happy that the other celebrity won.
You make a good suggestion about the voting and It'll probably be discussed when Tinker's back from holiday.

Re: October Challenge
Batty hon that's a fab idea about the voting and I agree with Odonata we'll discuss it with Tinker when she's back. But I will always take myself out of the running as I set the challenges and I don't think it's fair I should be up for winning anything. Taking part is enough for me
Re: October Challenge
I understand where your coming from Cornish, but, well, you know, it's a bit , but then I also agree with the "Not In It To Win It".
Gillian, thanks for that, I've got a question over on Lampworking can either of you help me out?

Re: October Challenge
I saw that question, Debs, but it's all double dutch to me. I haven't got a kiln either and don't do lampworking I'm afraid. Yet
Re: October Challenge
Once you start lampworking Gillian, there is no turning back, it is very, very, addicive, I've jsut saved up the money for a semi pro set up and DH is buy me a kiln, it's for my b'day, Christmas and the following 5 years or more of b'days and Christmas's.
Hope no one minds me discussing this on the monthly, sorry Girls / woman / ladies, fellow jewellers
