Re: January Challenge
I was going to enter a glass pendant, but had a slight disaster in that the glass which I thought was White, turned out Salmon Pink after being fused and totally destroyed the look of the piece! So here's my Snow Maiden choker instead (which you may have seen before - sorry!).
Snow Maiden Choker made of rock crystal chips and sterling silver wire

Re: January Challenge
That looks stunning Bead Moon, how long did it take to knit that? I have to ask, is the wire soft on the neck? i'd love to have a go at making something like that.
have you other piece's that you've knitted?

Re: January Challenge
I hadn't seen it before Elaine but it's stunning. Just gorgeous. Well done and VERY appropriate to the theme me thinks.
Re: January Challenge
I love your cascade of icicles, Elaine. Very elegant.

Re: January Challenge
Thank you for the lovely comments. I hadn't thought of it being like cascading icicles but that's a good image.
Batty, this one is crocheted, rather than knitted. I have done a couple of other things - a knitted bracelet and earrings - and find knitting with wire slightly easier than crocheting it. The choker was *very* time consuming though. I'd hate to try and count up the number of hours it took; one evening was spent simply threading more than 600 crystal chips onto a spool of wire. The bracelet was very much quicker.
Is it soft? Well, I'd not really thought about it in those terms. It is comfortable to wear; the wire is flexible because it's so fine (and cold when you first put it on, but soon warms up) and not scratchy at all. It fits very snugly so doesn't move around a lot. I suppose that it could be lined with some material if you were worried about having crocheted wire next to your neck.

Re: January Challenge
Did I say soft, guess i was trying to be diplomatic and failed, yes I meant is it comfortable.
But you are right, one could line it.

Re: January Challenge
Brilliant entries, Elaine and Ashlynn! I have a bead - I haven't done anything with it yet so I think I'll just post up a pic of the bead later.
Re: January Challenge
they are lovely Lynn.
I've made a couple of beads, a Snow Blossom or Ice Blossom and an Owl.

Lovely earrings, Ashlynn. They remind me of a frozen waterfall.
Great beads, Cornish. That's definitely a Snowy Owl! (I was a member of the Young Ornithologist Club when I was a child!)

Re: January Challenge
Thank you ladies, didn't think I would have time this month with January's work load.
I love reading what you all see in each piece- never thought of a frozen waterfall Pru.
Love the ice blossom Cornish, those colours are so chilly.

Snow blossom is gorgeous Vic!
I promise I'll do something for next months, it took me so long to finish my JMOY I haven't done anything else. Anyway I think I'm giving the prize for this months comp.
