Copper thingies
Here are some techniques that I've been play^H^H^H^H working on lately
Knitting with wire & crystals - a lightweight bracelet
Foldforming - deconstructed pentacle necklace. The ribbon is temporary because I think that it would look better on a chain, but I haven't made one for it yet.
More foldforming - this bangle is incredibly lightweight to wear. There are many more things to try in the Foldforming book so I won't run out of projects for a while

Re: Copper thingies
Loving the fold-forming Elaine, not tried that. that's one to put aside for future play-dates I think. I like the idea of the deconstructed pentacle too.
The bangle looks STUNNING but I can I ask a question? When wearing that style/shape does the inner crease of the bangle "cut" into the wrist if you fold your arms on your lap or put your arms on your desk etc etc. I ask because I find some beaded bracelets can be uncomfortable for me and they are less thick than the bangle. It's probably a sign of my age that I even think something like that when I look at jewellery; I guess I am getting to the stage in my life when I'll be looking for elasticated waist trousers soon

Re: Copper thingies
I think a Sowerze string or ribbon would look good on the necklace, but I love the bangle.
Re: Copper thingies
They are all lovely Elaine, I love the effect of the knitted wire, what's it like to wear?
Re: Copper thingies
Thank you all for the comments.
Gillian, I only finished the bangle yesterday and so have only worn it for a few hours, but the inner fold is quite rounded and didn't bother me. What I do find annoying about bangles which aren't a complete circle/oval is that they tend to spin so that the opening either goes on top or near the thin bit of the wrist. It won't fall off, but I like things to stay where I put them I'll wear it for a bit more today and see how it goes.
Cornish, thank you for the suggestion, I'll take a look at those.
Talking about crochet, I've done a choker in silver and rock crystal from the Kate Pullen book which is waiting to be sent off for hallmarking (although where they'll manage to hallmark it I don't know). I would never wear this, not the sort of thing for going round Sainsburys, but as it's not my design, could I sell it if I referenced Kate Pullen as designer? I'll try to photograph it today.

Ooh lovely copper ...............
I love all of them.
I've just had 2 books delivered from my Amazon wishlist and am hoping one is the foldforming one. I'm trying not to open them until Wed but it's soo hard!

Re: Copper thingies
Oops! missed Tinker's question. The knitted one is quite comfortable, but a bit delicate. I am always catching bracelets on things so it wouldn't be fit for me It's also wider than I'm used to.
Re: Copper thingies
This is the Kate Pullen design. It's from her "Wire Jewellery" book and is in sterling silver with rock crystal chips.
Re: Copper thingies
WOW! That's STUNNING! Regarding selling it,I'm not sure but it mat say somewhere in the book that you can reproduce the designs for your own use only. Or that you can sell them on only if you reference the designer. Something like that.
Cornish is right about the Sowzere silk ribbons by the way. The right colour combined with your copper would be fantastic and a great contrast in texture too.
Thanks for the info about the bangle and I echo what you said about the open bangles too. I do however have a favourite from Bali which I squeeze gently into place and it stays put, most of the time.

Re: Copper thingies
I had a look at the Sowzere site and Etsy shop but there's only one colourway of ribon available at the moment, and it's not the right colour I'll keep checking back though.
There's nothing in the book about making to sell. The only copyright notice is for the book (text/photographs etc.) itself.

Re: Copper thingies
its worth signing up for her newsletter Elaine then you'll know when she's got new ones made as she does sell out fairly quickly.
Re: Copper thingies
Thanks Cornish, I'll do that. Meanwhile I picked up some metal-look embroidery threads today and can look forward to an evening of watching the TV while Kumihimo'ing to keep my hands busy
Re: Copper thingies
I'm not sure where I got the following information from, so therefore I'm not sure if I'm right.... but... I'm sure that its fine for you to sell the jewellery you make from a tutorial/book, but not to mass produce it and I think that naming the designer is a courtesy (which I totally endorse) rather than 'law'.
Re: Copper thingies
Thanks Ronnie. I'll decide what to do once it's been hallmarked. I'm waiting for a bigger pile of stuff before sending them off so that's it's more economic.
Meanwhile, continuing with the copper, I added a Sowzere ribbon to the pendant and made another bangle (shown below) and a couple of other forms that I haven't decided what to do with yet...

I need more hours in the day - I want to do some foldforming now - I haven't done any for ages.

Re: Copper thingies
Thank you George. I've spent the afternoon rolling down some copper sheet so that I can do more... It really is a brilliant book and explains the technique and forms very well. Very nearly ready to try some silver.
Re: Copper thingies
They are all excellent eye candy indeed, I'm drawen to the knitted / crocheted ( is that how you spell crotch-A ? ) bracelet, I'm turning into a bracelet geek.
