Re: July Challenge
Very appropriate theme. I must get going early this month so that I don't let it slip.

I looked at these beads on your facebook last night night and thought, "They'd be ideal!" and they are
Re: July Challenge
Here's my entry. I have made two shamballa bracelets with a cool Britannia theme. One is relatively subtle, while the other is heavier on the bling. Finally, for mega patriotism they can be worn together (with your Union Jack mini dress, of course!!).

Re: July Challenge
I love those Pru - really blingy!! Btw I wouldn't use the 's' word if you are intending to list these anywhere, they trawl places like Etsy and get your listings pulled for Trademark infringements - better to say macrame'd bracelets or something. Had a 'new underpant' moment not so long ago when I got a legal notice regarding a couple of my listings.
Cornish - naughtyyyyyy! But very niiiiice

Wow Pru they are great and just perfect for this months theme.
Have resisted the urge to try this so far but I wavering.

Thanks for the warning, Tinker. I had no idea that the name was protected. I just presumed that it was some sort of traditional name!
Thanks for all the kind comments. We have finally got some tickets for the Olympics, so I guess my accessories are sorted!!

Re: July Challenge
Shamballa could be a trademarked name now I guess (Though it's not got a trademark logo on their website) but the word Shambhalla (with an h in the middle) is a Buddhist term for a land of peace I think. I wonder if by listing them under the name Shambhalla you could get away with it? Otherwise probably best to sell to friends or use ebay who never seem to be too bothered the legalities of what they sell
Ooops! And they're both really lovely by the way. Loving the Union Jack beads.

Re: July Challenge
Great entries ladies. Am loving all the micromacrame just now and would love to have a go at some. I downloaded some tutorials before my hols and hopefully will get a chance to try it.
Have an idea for this one already mmmmm................

Re: July Challenge
According to the email, contents of which I am not supposed to disclose apparently... shamballa, and any derivative of the spelling thereof is trademarked in relation to jewellery. Silly business really. Welcome back Lisa
Re: July Challenge
That is pretty heavy, Tinker. Did the email just come out of the blue? It is interesting because I have seen several tutorials for shamballa bracelets in recent mags and the name seems to be everywhere, including a banner ad at the top of this page as I write this!

Re: July Challenge
Dont understand why you got an e mail about the name Shamballa as it is a term meaning a sort of Buddhist heaven.

I am not a very good nurse and have just cut my thumb slicing onions to make French onion soup, which is the only thing he wanted, bless him.

Re: July Challenge
Sorry,
that post went all weird. I do have awful problems with this forum for some reason.
The above post is supposed to read that my OH has got some sort of cold bug which has gone first to his bladder and now he has a bad chest infection. On his second lot of antibiotics. He is really suffering, bless him. But making sure we all feel his pain too.
