Hello :-)

I was wondering whether any of you had considered ordering your glass rods straight from Murano? I got a price list and they are pretty reasonable.... if my calculations are correct that is!! P&P does not need to be factored in but pretty cheaper than our current supplier.... I have the numbers if someone wants them! lol! Or just the price list.... maybe we could do a bulk order?!

I would definitely consider it Bea but im not allowing myself any new glass till I've bought a kiln - but I'd be up for it, definitely.

Great Tinker, let me know when you are ready! I need more glass, don't have enough left. :-( I find Tuffnell's delivery prices so expensive, you could buy any bunch of rods with it.

Who are you looking to order from? I didn't think any of the 104 suppliers would sell direct to the consumer? In fact some colours are only sold to a single retailer.

Hey

It's Effetre Murano s.r.l. I was looking on the colour chart link from Tuffnell trying to decide what colour would be best for a purple to go with the green my mother in law wants and thought why not contact them so I did and explained what I did and that it was for me and so on and they replied with a price list and explanation how to order.

I'd love to see a copy of the price list if you don't mind?

Could you email it to george (at) mizgeorge.co.uk

Hi

I have emailed the list to you. Like I said in the email the price is for 1 metre rods so 3 times longer than the ones you usually get. (That's my understanding anyway!).

Thanks Bea,
I've had a look now, and unless it's a 100kg plus order, with minimums of a kilo of any given colour, by the time bank fees and insured shipping are factored in, I don't think there's enough of a saving to make it worthwhile for me.

Compared to the other materials I use, glass still seems very cheap, even bought here, and ridiculously, many colours are cheaper bought from the US than direct by the look of it. I guess that's because of the deal Franz has with them.

Hiya

That's fair enough. Maybe I should purchase it from a different source. Where do you purchase your glass from?

All the usual suspects - Tuffnells, Off Mandrel, some P&T (not easy to buy as they're not really in the 21st century in IT terms, but gorgeous glass), and odd stuff from the US - so many to choose from there. I like some of the Lauscha glass too from Heather Kelly here in the UK.

I'm seriously tempted to get some lauscha from Heather.

Bea don't forget Off Mandrel sell single rods good for trying out some of the expensive glass & for trying out before buying a bundle.

Tuffnells do have monthly offers, this month it's on CIM, I always try to get them when on offer.
