Flowers and Fire Opals
I had some torch time yesterday, struggled a bit but I made these. I'm addicted to making flowers with the silvered glass It looks better on clear I think.

I saw a tutorial on fire opals and I didn't have silver foil only leaf, well I thought i'd have a go anyway.

I really love these and I feel they would go well with some copper sheet so expect to see them in jewellery soon.

Re: Flowers and Fire Opals
Mmmm yum yum, those fire opals are a great colour aren't they!? Fantastic, and I love the barrel shape of those too. And they'd look good with copper but I'd be careful that being such a similar colour the copper doesn't detract from the stunningness of the beads.
For myself, my fave's are the top three cos I'd wear those. I do like the flower in the clear glass, looks great. Loveley Cornish.

Stunning colours in those fire opals, but the ivory beads are my faves. There were some similar blue ones at Swallowfield yesterday. I am not a flower person.

Those fire opals would look great with copper! I love the flower one too.

Wow they are scrumptious!! I see what Odonata means about the copper, although to me it would be the choice of metal for those fire opals. Yum!!
Re: Flowers and Fire Opals
I was thinking about the fire opals in the shower this morning (cos I'm like that) and came up with the idea of sandwiching them between some slim, green-toned turquoise rondelles to make them REALLY pop with the copper metal cos you have to use copper really don't you? I'm not sure silver has the strength of colour to carry them. But ya can't always be certain till you've seen them in the flesh. Not that I'm hinting or anything
Re: Flowers and Fire Opals
Thank you for all the lovely comments. I love all your advice with the copper I was thinking delicate & open so it will show the colour off. I will have a play and see what will happen.
Thanks again. X

I'm liking this too, I think we should continue! Call it bead surgery or something - I'll post up a set for fun and see what you all think
Re: Flowers and Fire Opals
I ended up using copper wire in the end, so have copper spirals and some rose quartz briolettes and a very nice burgundy sowerze ribbon. I will take a photo soon and I will post it in the challenge as it has being inspired by Gustav Klimt artwork. oh I had better do that by the end of the week.
Re: Flowers and Fire Opals
Oh fab! It was getting lonely over there in challenge corner all-by-my-self (sing along!)
Re: Flowers and Fire Opals
Oo burgundy silk, now that's a good idea. There are splashes of that in the bead aren't there? Really good idea.
And OMG! the challenge! I forgot and haven't done ANYTHING yet. Only 4 days to go. Must must must sit down tomorrwo after an early finish at work n see if I can come up with my chatelain-y-thingy-me-bobby idea.

No secret, it's a black base with silver foil ( I used leaf as that was all I had) then add swipes of DH Kalypso, then encase. The trick is to ensure the Kalypso is a clear colour in the flame before swiping. I think the tut for it is on Lampwork Etc.
It is great fun and I may experiment with some of the other DH I've got to see if they will do the same.
