Red necklace and bracelet
Made these a few months ago but have only recently got photos of them. Not sure about the enamelled heart being sturdy enough as it's only done with Efco powder not real enamel like Elaine's hearts.

Very pretty Lisa. I can't quite see what the chain is on the bracelet; is it a loose Byzantine?
I've never used Efco powder; it is heat treated though isn't it, and so should be quite sturdy.

Oh yes very pretty.
Clasp has caught my eye.....bit of a sucker for a nice clasp. Lisa, the photo is the wrong way round, would love a good look at the clasp.....lol

Re: Red necklace and bracelet
Here you are Lynne, better pic of the clasp. Yes it's a loose Bzyantine and you set the Efco powder for 5mins in the oven, just not sure whether it could chip off. Will have to do some tests I think. Elaine, was that your lovely blue hearts bracelet I spied in this month's MJ readers page?

Re: Red necklace and bracelet
Lovely clasp, thank you for posting a better view of it. What did you do the swirly bits with? If I did that there would be scratches all over the place.
Yes, it's the "back" of my hearts bracelet - the fronts of the hearts are all different. I'm not sure why they chose to show the back...

Thanks Lisa, tis a lovely clasp.
I'm with Elaine, how did you do the knot toggle.

Re: Red necklace and bracelet
Used a brass swirls stencil and an electric engraving pen to do the swirls and for the knot, just use a longer piece of wire than you need and anneal it well and tie a knot in it. You need a lot of wriggle room to pull the knot through (hence the extra length) and need to anneal it a few times to get a neat knot.

Re: Red necklace and bracelet
Thank you Lisa. I've been vaguely thinking about one of those Dremel engravers...
Re: Red necklace and bracelet
I'm afraid its their photographer, not the first time they have taken pics of the backs of pieces or just poor angles in general. Its apparently a common gripe amongst contributors!Mead Moon wrote:

Beautiful jewellery missus, and a lovely inventive clasp there x
Re: Red necklace and bracelet
Except that they used one of my photos, Tinker I photographed both sides and sent them both photos - so it's really my fault after all!
Re: Red necklace and bracelet
Thanks Tinks. Elaine, I got my engraver from Ldl, keep an eye out for one as they've had them for sale a few times for a tenner. I think you can get a battery one from the Betterware catalogue too but not sure if it's any good.

Re: Red necklace and bracelet
They are both so cheerful, Lisa. That clasp is amazing.
You can't beat a good wearer trial to find out if something is robust enough. You need a little girl to put that heart through its paces. Would your lads be keen to wear it around for a couple of days?!!

Re: Red necklace and bracelet
I keep thinking about the heart and for me I think I would like it if it got a bit battered. Sort of shabby chic
Re: Red necklace and bracelet
Aw a heart's that a little battered, I like that idea.
Heehee Pru, they always hate it when I ask them to try bracelets on that I've made for someone in their class who's having a birthday party, so i can gauge the size.
