Jane Hamill is a jewellery maker & lampworker she blogged about ETSY tips recently, here's the link to her blog. http://www.janehamill.co.uk/blog/2011/07/29/etsy-tips-an-introduction/

Well, I've been listing 1 item a day (well just about anyway) since November and it HAS made a difference to the amount of traffic through the shop. Going on the principle that the more people that see the goods for sale the greater the chance of finding a buyer, that has to be a good thing.
Reading Jane Hamill's blog that Cornish linked to up above here I see that Jane increased visits to her shop from 80 a month to over 9,000 a month. Now I don't get ANYWHERE near those figures but it has increased four fold from 50 in October up to 200 in January. And sales have gone from zero to one or two a month.
Jane also recommends linking your Etsy shop to Facebook etc. and that's something I need to start paying attention to next.
I haven't got round to having a good look at the Handmadeology site yet (too busy listing items onto Etsy and checking out the stats, haha) but must get round to it soon. Will feed back if I get any further results.

Anybody else had any positive or negative consequences with this kind of thing?
