St Petersburg Chain
When I am here in Sydney all my jewellery friends are mad about seed beads. If you can't beat them, join them! The Aussie forum has started a monthly challenge to learn me stitches and last month it was St Petersburg chain. This is what I learnt.
This is a necklace made up in double St Petersburg chain, the two rows forming a chevron shape.

This is a triple St Petersburg chain, with an extra row on top of the first two.

This is another triple, with the top row being longer to form a fringe with crystals on top. If anyone is a member of the Beadworkers Guild you will have seen this design, by Ruth Vickery, in the January journal.

Re: St Petersburg Chain
Thats a lovely stitch Pru, nice one! I like the first one best, so delicate but solid looking. I will get back to the seedies one day and take my repertoire past peyote stitch
Re: St Petersburg Chain
Wow Pru they're gorgeous! I've only managed a single St P bracelet for my niece, it's a lovely stitch which drapes beautifully.

Very lovely work Pru, I've just rediscovered my seedies and I'm really enjoying it.
Re: St Petersburg Chain
Thanks everyone. I never thought that I would enjoy working with seed beads as much as I do. St Petersburg chain is a very satisfying stitch to work and works up quickly once you have got the hang of it.

I love all your creations. Every time i see a stunning seed bead piece, it makes me want to give it a try. Do not think fingers are nimble enough, nor eye sght good enough to try.

I thought that too Nan but have really got into recently with having to stay inside because of the cold. I have to wear my reading glasses or I can't even thread the needle!
