At Long Last......
Good Morgan fellow Jewellery and ob-j-dar Makers
After a long and painful time away from my one and only true beloved HH (soon to get up grade fingers and legs crossed) I am about to ignite (or that could be spontaneously combust due to over excitement).
Wish me luck as I haven't lite my fair! in a long long time, since before Christmas 2010, due to a hysterectomy and house move. (down grade to bungalow, tiz great)
I only hope that I can still remember my moves! The twisting, turning and not too much burning.
Some of you may remember me from the other forum my tag was Dela.
I decided to go with a tag that is a lot more appropriate .....
Love and Peace from
Batty

Re: At Long Last......
May the force be with you Batty! I'm sure it will all come flooding back in no time.
Re: At Long Last......
Hahaha, Batty, It took me much pondering to work out what you were saying there and then I realised I was in the lampworking section and it all became clear
(Except the term HH which I'm guessing is a burner)
Hope the upgrade goes well for you.

Re: At Long Last......
indeed Odonata, the HH is short for the Hot Head Burner.

Re: At Long Last......
Yeah Batty may your last sessions on the HH be fruitful and what flame thrower are you upgrading to?
Re: At Long Last......
Hi Cornish how are you these days?
if you're the same Cornish from the other forum of-cause?
upgrade, what ever is on offer from Tuffnels, looks like it's the Bobcat at the mo. Don't have enough of the green backs (cash) to enable me the delight of going to "test", a few at the local (Folkstone, some 50 or more miles away) lampworking studio.
Still, always the one to go in head first, I'll make the most of what-ever comes along.

Re: At Long Last......
Yep that'll be me and doing fine, I nearly went for the Bobcat but I've ended up with a Nortel Minor and loving it, I can hear the radio and myself think for once
Re: At Long Last......
The bobcat's a nice torch. I ended up going for a Cricket as I can get more out of it with one slightly ailing oxycon. I know the flame characteristics of the two are very similar though as both are GTT torches.
Enjoy the end of the HH era. It was the noise that got to me in the end!

Hi Mizgeorge, the noise indeed, my neighbour thought I was about to launch my own space rocket.
Still, all good practise.
How come the oxycon is ailing, is getting on in years?

Re: At Long Last......
I have a cricket too, never even went near a HH - thank you so much Mooch and Julie Lush Lampwork for persuading me not to lol. It does me ok - but then I haven't really tried anything else out there.
Re: At Long Last......
ahhh the poor old HH getting a bit of a bashing, lol.
Indeed if one is lucky enough in the green back department and able to aloft to the heady heights of oxy-con set ups therefore hotter, quieter torches, good fortune is on your side.
But, alas, I am a rather poor sole (as in "not much" wealth, like many others) and more power to thy elbow is needed in the HH arena to produce interesting and aesthetic beads.
So let us not put the lesser off, off the HH, tiz a slower, colder burner, BUT the set up is a lot cheaper, enabling a dabble for them their of us poorish folk.
Good Will to All
