Cross Stitch and Embroidery

Post  Tinker on Fri Jan 27, 2012 10:01 am

I'm in a kinda sharing mood, can't really do much as I'm having to wait indoors for kiln delivery, so I'm going to bombard you with pics of my cross stitch and embroidery work - 'kay? Lol.

This one was for my parent's anniversary, it's a crap photo but the piece is out in France so I can't get a better one

This is a baby dressed as a lamb, it was on really small count aida and took ages, and I never really liked it lol but I finished it

This one is in my bedroon, I love wysteria. The photo doesn't show up the gold thread very well but it's one of my faves

Pansies, my absolute most favourite flower. This was a labour of love, it took so long - and it's all mine :-)

Embroidery with stumpwork bunnies, Stumpwork is where you make a flat bunny and add all the clothes and hair etc and then add it to the piece, putting some stuffing behind so they are raised. This was for god-daughter #1 on her 1st birthday. It's still referred to as her 'Artie Kat Blanket'

This was my sister's 30th birthday present, it also took ages as it was on small count aida. She loves winnie the pooh but somehow this disappeared never to be seen again. Funny old fart

When I left my first husband and got my own place, I didn't have enough money to go out socialising so I got myself a couple of cross stitch kits to keep away the boredom. This is the first one - very fitting

And this was the other one

You'll be glad to know that's all, folks lol!

They're brilliant Tinker, you must have a lot of patience, I've only every managed to do little ones. Funnily enough there was cross stitch involved in my entry for a certain competition erhem..........

Some lovely pieces of work there Tink.
I used to do a little bit of cross stitch and tapestry work. I started a beautiful piece designed by Jo Versoe (I highly recommend her book) but put it down half complete when my second child came along as I never seemed to have the time any more. The child is now 21. The embroidery is still waiting for me :-/

Thank you :-)

I've heard of Jo Verso but can't think if I've done any of her stuff. My unfinished masterpiece (!) is this onehttp://www.tiag.com/designs/LL-48.html I've done the stitching, but there are 100's of beads to sew on and lots of metallic thread to stitch in. This one has been hanging around for about 9 years. I've got another on the go too but it's all black and white and very hard to see - consequently not touching that one either atm lol. Oh and another embroidered blanket (the bunnies are on a blanket), but this time lots of flowers all the way round.

Jo Verso sounds a familiar name, I think I may have a book somewhere. Oh I've done something similar to the Fairies, a Snow Queen lots of special threads and beads on fine linen. It took me ages to finish got it done just before my eldest was born then it took me another few years to get it framed. lol
