Been following some tutorials

Post  Odonata on Fri Aug 17, 2012 6:50 pm

While my hands are recovering I've been watching a DVD of Sherilyn Millers about wirework and also reading the book which it came with. Brilliant stuff ladies. Very easy to follow and great results.
I had a little play with some silver-plated copper wire to start with as it's cheap as chips and so not so critical if I mess it up.

The black beaded pendant was going to be a pair of earrings but I hadn't measured my wires and so they ended up one slightly larger than the other and are now 2 pendants Embarassed
Coiling the fine wire got a little difficult for my hands and then it occured to me that I have a quantity of gimp wire and thought I'd experiment with that.....

...and made a pair of earrings.
I confess to following Sherilyns design with the black pendants and grey earrings almost exactly but tweaked and altered them a bit but I love the look of the earrings.

And just for good measure I'm also throwing in a photo of the offending garnet necklace which started off the pain in my hands. Naughty necklace Rolling Eyes

Gillian I love them! The wire works so well alongside the mono coloursheme. Is that the coiling I see?

The black one is stunning, very grown up and elegant

Ooh they're all gorgeous, very effective! I've got a couple of Sharilyn Miller's books with lots of copper stuff in, haven't looked at them in ages. Might have a wee browse through them tonight.

yeah it is the coiling Tink. The bottom one was made with gimp wire which has a tiny coil and is very flexible so it gives a different look and texture to coiling your own .4mm wire. Different but pretty.

The book I used has a DVD with it. I got the book last year at Flame-Off and I love it but have only just this week watched the DVD and it got me up off me bum and into my wire stash Laughing
i want to have a look at her copper themed books too but haven't found a 2nd hand one yet.
