June challenge
well I'm a day early, so I hope you don't mind and I have got the mood board done and uploaded too, I'm feeling quite organized I'm sure it won't last.
So this month is a prize winning challenge, I think the prize is some beads but I will confirm that later. Sorry I knew I'd get something wrong, the prize this month is being provided by Ashlyn and she has some lovely Muse Tokens by Jim Holtz.
It is a bit of a tricky theme sorry, can't wait to see what you'll come up with.

Re: June challenge
Sorry Didn't mean to be cruel, I'm not sure myself I was tempted with a bit of Shakespeare but as I remind my hubby each year mid summer is not the solstice. Lol
Re: June challenge
When IS midsummer exactly? August sometime? Have to say I'd always placed it around the solstice which is actually the start of summer isn't it? Silly me.
A tricky project again. And once again it's unlikely I'll be entering but we'll see

Re: June challenge
Midsummer is on the 24th of June, and the solstice is usually the 20th or 21st the shortest day. I know very bizarre isn't it being so close hence my hubby's confusion plus add our local village day (Patronal festival 24th ) it really confuses him, not hard really
Sorry it's a tricky one hmm well it is a fire festival and beacons used to be lighted. Some of the solstice celebrations were moved to st johns day 24th (midsummer) by the church from the more "pagan" festival on the shortest day. Would you like some more info as there is so much more, you could look up the oak and holly king that is very relevant to the solstice. Just shout and I can find some links or make an extra mood board to help.
I promise I'll make July easier. Xxx

Re: June challenge
Its a lovely mood board Cornish, I think its good to stretch the creative juices! Maybe a few more words to help anyone struggling out there would be good but even something bright and summery would be an entry, longest day of the year, celebrate the sun and the sunshine. Warmth, yellows, green lusciousness - amd thats before we even get into any of the old traditions and practices. Go-on you lot, its great practice - and theres a prize up!!
Re: June challenge
Tinker I'm glad you said its the longest day why I put the shortest I've no idea. it was a very busy day yesterday.
You could use midsummers night dream as a theme, it's close enough and could give some more ideas for you all.

Re: June challenge
Think it was a Hollyoaks trailer I saw which looked all Midsummer Night's dreamish, made me think of that too. I've always wanted to go to Stonehenge and I did archaeology at uni so I'm kinda been drawn that way methinks. Very interesting one this month, mmm.....

Well I'll go first, I'm actually organised this month lol.
Mine is inspired by the Welsh bluestones of Stonehenge. I made the "stones" from polymer clay and added some flecks of gold leaf for the suns rays.

Re: June challenge
Lovely bracelet Lisa. Your polymer clay beads are always so inventive, they're brilliant!
Re: June challenge
That's just such a good interpretation of the brief.
Where DO you get the time and ideas from to do so many and varied pieces? I'm in awe!
