Hi I am a new member

Post  Dazlyn on Sun Feb 19, 2012 3:31 pm

Hello everyone

I only started making jewellery last year after my mum died suddenly, it was to take my mind of things and have found it very theraputic. I have had success selling my items through friends but would like to take it a stage further now and sell at craft fairs, however as I do not drive i wonder if it would be feasible.

I would welcome any advice please Smile

Hi Dazlyn, welcome to the forum!
As you don't drive, you should give jewellery parties a try, as you can hold them at your own home or at a friends. Craft fairs can be very hit or miss where sales are concerned. People often just come for a look and don't buy anything. At a party you have very little outlay and you have a captive audience, who are expecting to buy something at the party.

Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum!
Yes, an open house kinda thing can work really well, of course you got etsy etc too but it doesn't work without putting lots of effort in in terms of marketing etc but it's worth it in the long run if you stick at it!

Hi Dazlyn, welcome to the forum and hope that the jewellery making has now become a joy to you and not just a distraction. I started making it to fill a gap in my life too and now it's become a part of my life and takes up a whole lot of my conscious mind.
Re craft fairs i can echo what Lislarch said that they can be very hit and miss. Are you based in the UK or USA? This may make a difference.

Hi Dazlyn and welcome to the forum.

I agree with the others about Craft Fairs they can be hit and miss, parties and open house are very good as you have a captive audience. Very Happy

Hello Welcome,"Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once"
" Alo-Alo "
But that's twice I hear you say?

Dazlyn, i hope you enjoy your jewellery making and that this forum becomes your distraction, they are a great lot here. very helpful, friendly but not over crowding, if you get my drift.
